چکیده
Spinal codes are a new class of rateless codes that enable wirelessnetworks to cope with time-varying channel conditions in a naturalway, without requiring any explicit bit rate selection. The key ideain the code is the sequential application of a pseudo-random hashfunction to the message bits to produce a sequence of coded symbolsfor transmission. This encoding ensures that two input messages thatdiffer in even one bit lead to very different coded sequences afterthe point at which they differ, providing good resilience to noiseand bit errors. To decode spinal codes, this paper develops an ap-proximate maximum-likelihood decoder, called the bubble decoder, which runs in time polynomial in the message size and achieves theShannon capacity over both additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN)and binary symmetric channel (BSC) models. Experimental resultsobtained from a software implementation of a linear-time decodershow that spinal codes achieve higher throughput than fixed-rateLDPC codes [11], rateless Raptor codes [33], and the layered rate-less coding approach [8] of Strider [12], across a range of channelconditions and message sizes. An early hardware prototype that candecode at 10 Mbits/s in FPGA demonstrates that spinal codes are apractical construction. A fundamental problem in wireless networks is to develop communication protocols that achieve high throughput in the face of noise, interference, and fading, all of which vary with time. An ideal solution is a rateless wireless system, in which the sender encodes data without any explicit estimation or adaptation, implicitly adapting to the level of noise or interference. In this paper, we pres...

Self-citation is a behavior that is seen to varying degrees in researchers, research centers and medical journals. The question is whether self-citation is moral or not. This is a descriptive and analytical study (library and document research). Two main keywords (self-citation and ethics) were used for searching databases. In addition, efforts have been made for moral evaluation of self-citat...
متن کاملThe 100 Most Cited Papers in Spinal Deformity Surgery: A Bibliometric Analysis
Spinal deformity is a condition that has been recognized for many millennia. There have been major advances in the treatment of spinal deformity in recent years and studies outlining new ideas can inspire others to further advance the speciality. The number of citations a paper receives may indicate the influence of that paper. It is therefore important that we evaluate and analyze the most cit...

Similar design study, language, and tables were found in a previously published article, “Botulinum toxin type A for neuropathic pain in patients with spin...
متن کاملIntegrating Spinal Codes into Wireless Systems
Rateless spinal codes [47] promise performance gains for future wireless systems. These gains can be realized in the form of higher data rates, longer operational ranges, reduced power consumption, and greater reliability. This is due in part to the manner in which rateless codes exploit the instantaneous characteristics of the wireless medium, including unpredictable fluctuations. By contrast,...
